EP Climbing introduces eucalyptus as a new certified option for indoor climbing walls.

For decades, birch plywood has been the industry’s default material.
But recent geopolitical tensions exposed the vulnerability of relying on a single wood species — impacting timelines, pricing and traceability.

Rather than lowering standards, EP Climbing spent several years developing a fully validated second material option: eucalyptus.

What this means for the industry:

  • Diversified sourcing that reduces pressure on birch
  • A stable and audited supply chain (FSC®, ISO and ABEO Responsible Purchasing Charter)
  • Equivalent performance validated under EN 12572 standards
  • Successful field testing for over a year in France and Switzerland

Eucalyptus is not a replacement — it’s an additional option designed to make the climbing wall sector more resilient, more transparent, and better prepared for the future.
